This is an "accordion cake" that student Kyle baked for the year end accordion get together at Squeezebox Studios in June.
Thank you, Kyle, and of course, thanks to your mom. Great job!
We all got together to listen to each other play and to support each other in our accordion endeavours. We played one piece all together, as an impromptu accordion orchestra, entitled "Barcarolle" from Offenbach's opera "The Tales of Hoffmann". Richard Tyce, accordion teacher, adapted this easy PH arrangement by adding some of the wonderful vocal harmonies that Offenbach originally had penned.
Here is a video of Jake Hobbis and Richard Tyce playing Bach's "Prelude and Fugue in C" from "Eight Little Preludes and Fugues" at the get together. Lot's of fun...this is just one example of the many styles that one can do and have fun with on the accordion.
